In May the special Disney’s Fairy Tale Wedding debuted and was popular enough to warrant a television series. Freeform has picked up the series and ordered seven episodes. The series will arrive this spring and feature magical weddings from the Walt Disney World Resort. The original program was the most successful unscripted program for the network so far.
Executive producers Ann Lewis Roberts, Simon Lythgoe and Jenny Daly are partnering with Walt Disney Parks & Resorts to create the series.
“We are creating one of the most beautiful shows in the world with ‘Disney’s Fairy Tale Weddings’ and Disney Parks & Resorts, where they make couples’ dreams come true,” Roberts said, “making a couple’s fantasy into a reality by transforming their wedding into an event more magical and spectacular than they could have ever imagined.”
Korri McFann, marketing director for Disney’s Fairy Tale Weddings & Honeymoons, said: “The ‘Disney’s Fairy Tale Weddings’ team is honored to provide another behind-the-scenes glimpse into our Disney wedding planning services, share our unique fairy tale wedding locations, and connect viewers with our couples’ personal love stories.”
“Continuing on the success of Freeform’s Disney’s Fairy Tale Weddings summer special, we are continuing to invest in our relationship with the Disney’s Fairy Tale Weddings team to bring magic and spirit to viewers everywhere,” said Kary McHoul, Freeform senior vp programming and development unscripted. “We can’t wait to make wedding dreams come true with the most epic wedding planning team in the world.”
At this time a premiere date has not been announced.
