The Walt Disney Company is mourning the loss of a longtime Disneyland Resort cast member today after she was killed in the Las Vegas shooting on Sunday night. Carrie Barnette was one of 59 people killed on Sunday night at the Las Vegas shootings. Another cast member, Jessica Milam, was injured.

Chairman and CEO of the Walt Disney Company Bob Iger released a statement Monday saying, “Our hearts go out to everyone impacted by the tragic events in Las Vegas – the victims of violence, the witnesses, and the friends and families mourning loved ones. We are especially heartbroken over the loss of one of our own to this unconscionable and senseless act. Carrie Barnette had been a member of the Disney California Adventure culinary team for ten years and was beloved by her friends and colleagues. Our thoughts are with her family, along with our support, during this incredibly difficult time. Another valued Disney cast member, Jessica Milam, was also seriously injured and we are praying for her recovery.”

Iger also released a tweet sharing his thoughts and feelings.

The shooting in Las Vegas is the deadliest mass shooting of its kind in modern history. At this time, 59 people have been killed and 527 injured after a gunman opened fire from the 32nd floor of the Mandalay Bay Hotel during country star Jason Aldean’s set at the Route 91 Harvest Music Festival on the Las Vegas strip.

DAPs Magic joins the Walt Disney Company in mourning for all those hurt during this horrific incident. We send our thoughts and prayers to those who are struggling during this difficult time.
