Jazz saxophonist Javon Jackson performed at Disneyland last night. As part of the Disneyland Resort All-American College Band clinician series, Jackson performed during their sit-down jazz set. Jackson originally rose to prominence by playing with Art Blakey’s band. Throughout his career he has recorded numerous albums. In 2010 he composed a score for the Alfred Hitchcock film, The Lodger. This is a silent film based on the hunt for Jack the Ripper.
Jackson was the final jazz clinician to come work with the Disneyland Resort 2017 All-American College Band. This summer the band was joined by multiple clinicians who led and mentored the band.
