Watch Mulan’s Lunar New Year Procession in VR 360

Disney California Adventure celebrates the Lunar New Year each year, and it showcases the cultures that celebrate this particular holiday time.  It’s an event that spills out from Paradise Gardens into the surrounding Paradise Pier area.  Mulan and Mushu greet guests throughout the day, but also in a procession with several friends.  The entertaining show makes use of dancers, dragon dancers, and drummer warriors.  In a grand style they usher in the Lunar New Year for everyone through music.  Afterward they retreat to the alcoves of Paradise Gardens to get photos with guests.  The Sunday DAPs crew was able to catch a performance of the celebration this last Sunday.  One of the ways we recorded this festival was through 360 camera to offer an immersive experience of this limited time engagement at the park.  Below is the 360 video, and below that is the regular, non-360 version of the same show.

To get the 360 interactive experience, you need a Google Chrome browser on your computer.  While the video is playing you can use your mouse to drag around inside of the video, which is like looking around the whole view.  On mobile devices, you can use the YouTube app and move the device around physically to get different views, or use your finger to drag around inside the video like the mouse cursor.  To get the fully immersive experience, a VR headset, such as Google Cardboard or Samsung Gear.  Be sure to plug in some headphones too to get the surrounding sound.

We hope you enjoy the VR experience the video provides.  We have several other 360 videos for your enjoyment, including some from Hong Kong Disneyland and Shanghai Disneyland.  Be sure to check them out here.  Also to be sure to check out the full Main Street Electrical Parade VR experience here.
