A couple nights ago, @mr_daps and the crew had the extreme geeky privilege of being some of the first people to watch Star Wars Ep. VII on Blu-ray from the comfort of the DAPs Studios. Naturally, we took to Twitter with the hashtag #DAPsMagicTFA to share our reactions to the film via live-tweet. And, as always happens when you put a group of geeks in the same room, things got …entertaining, to say the very least.
Here are a few of our highlights from the evening, as shared by @mr_camjaxn, @DAPsMurray, @Caitiebear13, @lauramarie08, @ladivajenny, and of course, the masterful @mrdaps himself!

So, of course, we all had a strong reaction as soon as we pulled that vacuum-sealed plastic off of the packaging.
First three words of #SWTFA: Luke Has Vanished. This sets up the grand game of hide and seek? #dapsmagictfa

This is better watching it in a home setting. No one judges you when you squeal over BB8 #dapsmagictfa

Now that we were no longer constrained to theater etiquette, which normally doesn’t allow for excitable geek comparisons, we got to work making ALL the cross-references.
Does the first ship in #SWTFA remind anyone else of #SpaceBalls? #dapsmagictfa

#Poe: (to BB-8) keep it secret. Keep it safe.

And oh, don’t get us going on all the Hamilton references. The fact that @Lin_Manuel wrote a song for the Cantina scene didn’t hurt, either.

Now that we’ve had a little time to sit on our feelings for the characters in the film, watching them again brought some stuff out.

Forget 'shipping #Poe and #Finn. I want someone to look at me like #Hux looks at his big planet-gun. #dapsmagictfa

As with any film, if you watch it enough times, you catch some weird stuff. Now that we were free to share our thoughts aloud, some interesting observations surfaced.
I must say that in the years between the empire's fall & first order, tie fighter organization has gotten much better #dapsmagictfa

Give it enough time, and the DAPs Crew gets wonky. Here were some of our more random thoughts.
