Disneyland’s 60th Anniversary – July 17, 2015

On July 17, 2015 Disneyland celebrated it’s 60th Anniversary. The day began with a short and sweet ceremony in front of Sleeping Beauty Castle at 10:00 AM. It was hosted by Disneyland President Michael Colglazier. It included the announcement of the the Million Dollar Dazzle where $1 million will be donated to local charities by the Disneyland Resort. The first charity to receive a grant was the Girl Scouts. The ceremony also included the recognition of Disney Legends and members of the Disney Family who were in attendance. The highlight for many was the beautiful rendition of Feed the Birds from Mary Poppins as sung by Ashley Brown who was accompanied on the piano by Richard Sherman. The ceremony ended with characters streaming around the small stage as all in attendance sang Happy Birthday to Disneyland.

Disneyland’s 60th Anniversary Ceremony wasn’t the only exciting thing happening on July 17, 2015. The Disneyland band showcased their new look, new music, and new choreography! They were warmly received as they marched around Main Street and Frontierland. A highlight was definitely the castle set where they were joined by Mickey and the gang and then as they made their way down Main Street, USA the Dapper Dans also joined in on the fun!

The other big event of the day was a pre-parade before Mickey’s Soundsational Parade. It celebrated the legacy of the Disneyland Cast Members from 1955. It included Cast Members from then and also now. There was also some dancing going on throughout the evening however, I (Mr. DAPs) did not stick around for those magical moments.
