The conversation revealed other details about the school and its relationship to Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them. It appears that the school itself will not be in the movie but some current or former students probably will be. The school does have “immigrant” and “indigenous” roots and will not be located in New York.
Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them takes place 70 years before the events of Harry Potter. The movie will follow the adventures of Newt Scamander, a magizoologist and Hogwarts alum. Scamander will be played by Eddie Redmayne. The screenplay for Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them is being written by J.K. Rowling and the movie is scheduled to be released on November 18, 2016.
