Disney Parks to Ban Selfie-Sticks

The days of having a selfie-stick inside of a Disney Park will soon come to an end.  The Orlando Sentinel released an article stating that both the Walt Disney World Resort and Disneyland Resort are to set a park-wide ban on the items starting on June 30.

Disney World spokeswoman Kim Prunty gave this quote, “We strive to provide a great experience for the entire family, and unfortunately selfie-sticks have become a growing safety concern for both our guests and cast.”

The safety of guests is a top priority. Just this past week, the attraction California Screamin of Disney California Adventure Park was put to a sudden stop as a guest pulled out a selfie-stick while the ride was in motion.

The ban will also take part in Paris Disneyland and Hong Kong Disneyland, starting July 1.

In addition, the article goes on to say;

Guests will be checked for the equipment during the routine bag check that happens near the parks’ entrances. They will have an option of turning in their selfie-sticks for pick-up later or to go back to their cars or hotel rooms to stow them.

Visitors will be told of the policy in locations such as the parking lots and at the resort’s hotels. The prohibition will be added to the park rules post on Disney World’s website.

According to CNN Money, other locations that follow a no selfie-stick rule include English Premier League soccer stadiums, Coachella Music Festival, Palace of Versailles and many more.

Currently, Disney Parks have signs posted outside of attraction entrances of no selfie-sticks. Now that a park-wide ban is set to be put in place, how do you feel about this new policy?
