Sherlock to Revisit 19th Century in Upcoming Special Episode

Since seeing Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman in Victorian era costumes, fans have speculated about what this means for the upcoming special episode of Sherlock. Steven Moffat has cleared things up a little bit when he recently confirmed to EW that this special episode will indeed be taking place in the 19th century.

“The special is it’s own thing,” Moffat told EW. “We wouldn’t have done the story we’re doing, and the way we’re doing it, if we didn’t have this special. It’s not part of the run of three episodes. So we had this to do it – as we could hardly conceal – it’s Victorian. [Co-creator Mark Gatiss] and me, we wanted to do this, but it had to be a special, it had to be separate entity on its own. It’s kind of in its own little bubble.”

This doesn’t answer a ton of questions about the episode but what we do know is that we are getting a full-length stand alone episode. It appears that it will be utilizing the actors known for a modern day Sherlock now taking the original roles in the original time period. Could this mean a return of Moriarty!?

This special episode of Sherlock is pretty much done. At this time, it is unknown when it will be shown in the UK and USA. However, there is a lot of speculation that it will air around Christmas in the UK and shortly after in the States.

What do you think of this new information? What would you like to see happen?

Make it a GREAT day!
