Little League Star Mo'ne Davis to Have Biopic Produced on Disney Channel

As some may recall, last summer Mo’ne Davis participated in the Little League World Series. She was the first female to have pitched a shutout during the series. Variety has reported that Mo’ne will soon have a film about her history changing experience.

Disney Channel is to produce a biopic based on the summer games as well as how Mo’ne changed the face of the sports industry. Along with producer Debra Martin Chase and script writers Sheldon Candis and Justin Wilson, the film is said to be titled “Throw Like Mo.” Mo’ne will have a strong impact in the film as she will consult in addition with help from ESPNw.

Naketha Mattocks, VP of original movies for Disney Channel, had this to say on the film, “Mo’ne is not only a topnotch athlete in three different sports — baseball, basketball and soccer — but she is an exemplary student and someone who will remind our audiences that they can do anything with hard work, dedication and belief in themselves.”

As for young Mo’ne’s opinion, she is very thrilled. “A year ago, I never would have thought that Disney Channel would make a movie about me. I can’t wait to get started, and I hope it will encourage other viewers to believe that dreams really do come true.”
