The popular book series “Fancy Nancy” will soon be transformed into an animated series on Disney Junior. Coming 2017 to the network, an original film and series inspired from the books will be played on airwaves.
According to ABC News, the series will be aimed towards children in the age range of 2-7. In regards to theming, the main character is attracted to anything fancy be it clothing or vocabulary. Her character is designed to let children be free with self-expression.
Nancy Kanter, executive vice president of original programming and general manager of Disney Junior Worldwide noted her opinion on the new show. “Children have been captivated by Fancy Nancy’s wit and irrepressible spirit for a decade and we are very eager to give her an even bigger stage on which to perform,”
These stories have been written by Jane O’Connor and Robin Preiss Glasser. With the publishing of these books beginning back in 2005, there is an audience following. O’Connor said in a statement, “This is definitely one of those ‘pinch me’ moments. When Robin and I met Nancy Kanter and her team, we knew instantly that Disney Junior was the plus-perfect home for Fancy Nancy.”
