Architect Michael Graves Passes Away At Age 80

Thursday, architect Michael Graves passed away. At the age of 80, he was mostly known for his iconic work with Disney. According to Variety, he has been paralyzed chest down since 2003 from a spinal cord infection. He passed away from natural causes.

Graves’ iconic work includes the Team Disney building at the Walt Disney Studios in Burbank, the design of Walt Disney World’s Dolphin and Swan resorts and the Alessi tea kettle design which can be found at Target.

“Michael Graves is an architect for whom design has no boundaries. There is no such thing as an insignificant object,” said Michael Eisner during his presidency with the Disney Company.

In addition, Graves also worked on countless designs for hotels, universities and public buildings.
