As the countdown continues, here’s the last grouping of subjects, I promise. I guess that means that 2014 was a pretty big year for a lot of Disney items. Today’s entry has the grouping of movie announcements that are setting off both Disney fan and general geeks across the country.
Marvel made a big announcement in October that laid out their movie plans until 2019! Among them were some surprises and some titles that had people say “Finally!” The most notable have been Black Panther, Captain Marvel, Captain America: Civil War, and the Avengers: Infinity War lineup. Even more recently, Marvel announced that Doctor Strange will be played by Benedict Cumberbatch, another geek favorite. Although a great actor and fan favorite, the announcement garnered some controversy where it’s thought that Cumberbatch does too many sci-fi roles. Still, it’s getting positive reception, and so is the lineup for Marvel movies.
In another franchise now owned by Disney, Star Wars took fans and even video sites by storm as the trailer appeared just about a month ago. Although it’s a vague glimpse at Star Wars VII, it is still getting a lot of attention from all over. It’s spawned several comical and favorite parodies and memes. Still hyping up the movie was the announcement of character names just a little after the trailer was released. Artistically done as retro trading cards, it still keeps things vague, but gives some much wanted news for Star Wars fans.
