On October 8, 2012 Disneyland announced its Ambassador Team for 2013 – 2014. Two years later, a new team has been announced and a new adventure will begin for the current Ambassadors. Becoming a Disneyland Ambassador is a life changing event. The Ambassadors, the Disney Ambassador Program, and the Disneyland Resort all have changed over the course of two years. Here is a look at how things have changed surrounding the Disneyland Ambassador Ceremony and program in the last two years:
Beginning of the Adventure (2012)
- On October 8, 2012 the Disneyland Ambassador team that was announced was Megan Navarette and Sachiko White, both of the Entertainment department at the Disneyland Resort.
- The ceremony took place in front of Sleeping Beauty Castle with former Ambassadors Jolie Hales & René Torrico and Disneyland President George A. Kalogridis leading the ceremony that passed the torch of ambassadorship.
- Former Ambassadors were introduced as they entered from Sleeping Beauty Castle.
- The Fab Five joined the announcement ceremony on stage.
- Following the ceremony, a cavalcade aboard Walt Disney’s firetruck made its way down Main Street. The newly announced Ambassadors were accompanied by the Fab Five.
- At the time of this ceremony, the Disneyland Ambassadors represented the 23,000 cast members of the Disneyland Resort.
- There were 80 applicants for the Disneyland Ambassador program.
- New Ambassador Team joined the then-current Team to host CHOC Walk in the Park 2012.
- Megan Navarette and Sachiko White were interviewed about becoming Disneyland Ambassadors under the awning outside of the Disney Showcase.
End of the Adventure (2014)
- On October 10, 2014 Jessica Bernard and Allie Kawamoto were named to be the 2015-2016 Disneyland Ambassador Team. Bernard comes from Entertainment and Kawamoto from the food and beverage department.
- The ceremony took place in front of Sleeping Beauty Castle with current ambassadors Megan Navarette and Sachiko White and Disneyland President Michael Colglazier.
- Former Ambassadors were introduced as they entered from Sleeping Beauty Castle.
- Original Disneyland Ambassador Julie Reihm Casaletto participated in the ceremony.
- Former Ambassadors appeared in front of Sleeping Beauty Castle at end of ceremony to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of the Disney Ambassador Program.
- Following the ceremony, the new Ambassador Team road aboard Walt Disney’s firetruck behind the Disneyland Band. They were followed by a host of Disney characters.
- The Disneyland Ambassadors represent the 26,000 cast members of the Disneyland Resort.
- There were 61 applicants for the Disneyland Ambassador program.
- New Ambassador Team joins current Team as they host CHOC Walk in the Park 2014.
- Megan Navarette and Sachiko White were interviewed about what comes next after being Disneyland Ambassadors on the patio of the Disneyland Disney Dream Suite.
