Star Wars Rebels: Extended Preview (Official)

In this special extended preview of Star Wars Rebels, the Empire arrives on Lothal — bringing tyranny with them. Imperials and stormtroopers establish an intimidating presence on the planet, enforcing strict new laws for trade and arresting citizens for expressing dissent of any kind. A young boy named Ezra, however, discovers that a mysterious group is attempting to steal cargo from the Empire. Intrigued, he tries to take it for himself – and ends up on the run from both Imperials and this small band of rebels.

Star Wars Rebels, set between Episodes III and IV of the Star Wars saga, will premiere in October 2014 with a one-hour special telecast on Disney Channel, and will be followed by a series on Disney XD channels around the world.

So what do you think?

Star Wars RebelsA couple of things jumped out at me when I watched this preview. The first is that we are definitely going to be seeing a universe that is more in line with the original Star Wars trilogy as opposed to the Prequels. The Star Destroyer was definitely the type of Imperial Star Destroyer found in Star Wars: A New Hope as opposed to the ships of the Republic. As the preview moved forward, the Storm Troopers also confirmed this observation as they now do look like the Storm Troopers I grew up with as opposed to the Clone Troopers.

The music in this is much more reminiscent of the original trilogy as well. I really did enjoy the music to Star Wars: The Clone Wars but this already feels far more superior to me… mainly because I’m a much bigger fan of that trilogy of music from John Williams than I was the prequels. Don’t get me wrong, I enjoyed the music of the prequels but nothing beats the original.

Lastly, it appears to me that we are really seeing some of the first “violent” acts by a fledgling Rebellion. Clearly seeds for the future Rebellion were planted in the Prequels but nothing overtly happened… it is quite possible that this is the first attacks on the Empire by the Rebellion. Time will tell on that speculation however.

What did you think of this preview? Are you as excited for this show as we are? Will you be watching weekly? Would you like a weekly wrap up/review of Star Wars Rebels?  We’d love to hear your thoughts in the comments section below!

Make it a GREAT day!
