Disney Buys Full Rights to Future Indiana Jones Movies

The Walt Disney Company as acquired future rights to the Indiana Jones franchise. This new deal includes marketing and distribution rights for future Indiana Jones movies. While Disney owns Lucasfilm, Paramount has been instrumental in running things with the Indiana Jones franchise since the beginning. Paramount will continue to have control over the marketing and distribution of the first four movies. Paramount will also receive compensation of some sort for future Indiana Jones movies. The exact details of the deal have not been released.

At this time, there are no more Indiana Jones movies officially green lit. However, it would be a reasonable guess to conclude that more could happen if Disney is willing to invest in the future of the franchise. Harrison Ford has also previously indicated a willingness to return to the franchise. Of course, nothing is official on future movies until Disney or Lucasfilm makes an announcement.
