LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. March 8, 2013 – With an open invitation to select diverse local businesses to be a part of the magic, Walt Disney World Resort will host a supplier diversity summit March 19 at Disney’s Contemporary Resort in an effort to expand its sources for unique products and services. The event is one of the many ways Disney demonstrates its commitment to diversity and economic inclusion, as well as strengthens the local economy.

”We are always looking to diversify our supplier and contractor base and are thrilled to be offering this opportunity tocertified minority and women enterprises,” said Matt Thursam, manager, Walt Disney World Minority Business Development. “Its important that our supplier base reflect the multiculturalism of today’s world. Ideally, we want to support them as they thrive and grow.”

Back in January, over 100 local minority-owned businesses learned about the upcoming summit by attending “The Road to Walt Disney World Matchmaking” at the National Entrepreneur Center. The session gave attendees tips on how to do business with Disney and walked them through the Minority Business Enterprise certification process.

Conducted in partnership with the Disney Sourcing and Procurement team, the supplier diversity summit is the next step for certified MWBEs ( Minority & Women Business Enterprises) to better understand the kinds of products and services requirements Disney anticipates in the coming year.
