Not So ‘Epic Mickey’ Studio Closes

DAPs Magic Disney News – by Mr. DAPs

The studio behind the Epic Mickey video games has closed. After less than stellar sales on Epic Mickey 2, Disney has closed Junction Point Studios.

Disney released the following statement today:

It was with much sadness that we informed our teams today of changes to our Games organization, which include the closure of Junction Point Studios. These changes are part of our ongoing effort to address the fast-evolving gaming platforms and marketplace and to align resources against our key priorities. We’re extremely grateful to Warren Spector and the Junction Point team for their creative contributions to Disney with Disney Epic Mickey and Disney Epic Mickey 2.

Junction Point, founded by Warren Spector in 2005, had been tasked with bringing Mickey into the digital video game age.  However, Epic Mickey 2 received poor reviews and had disappointing sales numbers.

Currently Disney says that it has no plans for future console video games beyond Disney Infinity, which was announced earlier this month.
