PASADENA, Calif., July 11, 2012 — Disney Store will debut its limited edition Sparky-Saurus vinyl figure, inspired by the upcoming Tim Burton film from Disney, Frankenweenie, in the Funko booth (#4829) at Comic-Con International 2012 in San Diego, California. Inspired by the unique aesthetic of the stop-motion black and white film, Sparky-Saurus is attached to a base that looks like the homemade movie set constructed in a scene from the film. Only 1,000 Sparky-Saurus vinyl figures will be available at San Diego Comic-Con (SDCC). Also at Comic-Con, a preview of Disney Store’s fall assortment of Frankenweenie merchandise will be on display at Walt Disney Studio’s Art of Frankenweenie booth (#3635).

Disney Store also announced that its new snack food-inspired Vinylmation series, So Tasty, will release at the Funko booth at SDCC. To thank fans, Disney Store will give away limited edition So Tasty-themed paper chef hats throughout Comic-Con weekend (supplies are limited).

“With Disney POP! About Frankenweenie
From creative genius Tim Burton (“Alice in Wonderland,” “The Nightmare Before Christmas”) comes “Frankenweenie,” a heartwarming tale about a boy and his dog. After unexpectedly losing his beloved dog Sparky, young Victor harnesses the power of science to bring his best friend back to life—with just a few minor adjustments. He tries to hide his home-sewn creation, but when Sparky gets out, Victor’s fellow students, teachers and the entire town all learn that getting a new “leash on life” can be monstrous.

A stop-motion animated film, “Frankenweenie” was filmed in black and white and rendered in 3D. The talented voice cast includes: Catherine O’Hara, Martin Short, Martin Landau, Charlie Tahan, Atticus Shaffer, Robert Capron, Conchata Ferrell and Winona Ryder.

Presented by Disney, “Frankenweenie” is directed by Tim Burton, produced by Tim Burton and Allison Abbate, from a screenplay by John August, based on an original idea by Tim Burton. “Frankenweenie” releases in U.S. theaters on October 5, 2012.
