Disney Park Grand Openings

Disney Parks have always seemed to be a family favorite, no matter how old you are. We take a look at your favorite Disney parks and reveal when they first opened!

Disneyland located in Anaheim, California was the first theme park created by Walt Disney. When it first opened on July 17, 1955 the park offered visitors five attractions including Adventureland, Fantasyland, Frontierland, Main Street USA and Tomorrowland.

Walt Disney World located just outside of Orlando, at Lake Buena Vista, Florida, was Walt Disney's second theme park. The theme park opened on October 1, 1983and included the still popular Magic Kingdom. Other sections included versions of the Disneyland attractions as well as Bear Country and Liberty Square.

The Experimental Prototype Community of Tomorrow or, as it's usually known as,EPCOT Center opened on October 1, 1982. Located at Walt Disney World, EPCOT Center, the third Disney park, provides futuristic entertainment as well as a chance to visit different global cultures.

The fourth Disney park opened on April 15, 1983 just outside of Tokyo, Japan at Urayasu, Chiba. Tokyo Disneyland was the first Disney park located outside of the U.S. and included the attraction, Space Moutain.

Disney-MGM Studios located at Walt Disney World became the fifth Disney park when it opened on May 1, 1989. The park includes such attractions as The Great Movie Ride and the Backlot Tour.

Although they aren't official Disney parks, Walt Disney World's Blizzard Beachand Typhoon Lagoon are popular attraction. Blizzard Beach opened on April 1, 1995 while Typhoon Lagoon, which boasts one of the largest wave pools in the world, opened on June 1, 1989.

Euro Disney opened on April 12, 1992. The sixth Disney park is located just outside of Paris, France in Marne-la-Vallee. On October 1, 1994 Euro Disney officially became known as Disneyland Paris and includes Disney Village.

Visitors to Disney's Animal Kingdom located at Walt Disney World get a chance to experience nature up close. The seventh Disney park opened on April 22, 1998.

California Advenure opened on February 8, 2001 and is located as Disneyland. The park, which is divided into the Golden State, Hollywood Backlot and Paradise Pier, was the eighth official Disney area.

Disney's ninth official theme park opened on September 4, 2001. DisneySealocated at Tokyo Disneyland includes such attractions as Arabian Coast and Mysterious Island.

Walt Disney Studios opened at Disneyland Paris on March 16, 2002. This theme park, the tenth one for Disney, is dedicated to the world of cinema.

September 12, 2005 marked the opening of Hong Kong Disneyland. The eleventh and so far final park is located on Lantau Island in Hong Kong.
