LOS ANGELES, Jan. 5 (UPI) — The Walt Disney Co. settled a suit with heirs of a Spanish woman who had a brain hemorrhage after riding Disneyland's Indiana Jones Adventure in California.
Cristina Moreno, 23, of Barcelona was on her honeymoon in June, 2000, when she rode the "thrill ride," the Los Angeles Times reported Friday. She later passed out at her Hollywood hotel and died two months later, never having regained consciousness.
Moreno's heirs sought more than $1 million in damages for wrongful death.
Disney settled the suit Dec. 29, the week before trial was to begin. Terms of the settlement were not made public.
The Moreno family retained attorney Barry Novack to handle their suit, his third successful case against Disney because of brain injuries to riders on the Indiana Jones Adventure, the newspaper said.
Disney has admitted no responsibility in any of the settlements.
Disney made changes to the ride in 2002, they said, to make it more "reliable and durable, not for safety reasons."
