Disney deal is down to a fine art

SALFORD-based animation gallery Toons has struck an exclusive deal with film giant Disney.
Managing director Robert Marks, pictured, was in New York last week where he met with Disney studio executives to finalise the UK exclusivity agreement for the Disney Fine Art program.

Toons has worked with Disney Studios over the past two years, but this new deal means that Disney Fine Art will be available on an exclusive basis through Toons here in the UK.

Based in the Lowry Shopping Mall at Salford Quays, Toons is already licensed to sell artwork from all of the major Hollywood studios such as 20th Century Fox, which is the home of The Simpsons.

“Special”

Mr Marks, who set up Toons with his brother Anthony in 2003, said: “Disney is something really special.

“For example, Alison Lefcort whose artwork sells for $20,000 a piece and has her work on show at the White House in America, was commissioned by Disney to produce some amazing pieces of art featuring Tinkerbell. We are now able to ship this work over from Hollywood and offer to our collectors in the UK.

Kirk Smith, international sales director at Disney Studios, said: “We are very happy to be working even closer with Toons, they have established themselves as one of Europe’s leading animation art companies, we are proud to have them as a fine art partner.”
