The Main Street Cinema is often over-looked as guests rush down Main Street to their next destination. The cinema looks just as they did in the 1900’s, and has remained the same since opening day on July 17, 1955. Upon walking up to the cinema’s entrance, you are greeted by Tillie, the ticket taker, who currently holds the world record for sitting still for 51 years and counting! Once inside you can enjoy six cartoon shorts, including Mickey Mouse’s first cartoon, Steamboat Willie. All the cartoons are in black and white and played with music and no verbal sound. So, the next time it is raining outside or you just want to take a breather, duck into the Main Street Cinema for a short cartoon. It’s guaranteed to make you smile as you watch some of the first Disney cartoons and think back on how times have changed. Make sure you tell Tillie hi… she will love it! |
