Join Peter Pan, Wendy, John, Michael, Tinker Bell and all the Lost Boys as you take a flight off to Never Land where you never have to grow up and all you need is faith, trust and Pixie Dust.
Peter Pan’s Flight is one the original 17 attractions that opened with the park on July 17, 1955 and has proved to be a favorite to park guests, young and old ever since. Often times, Peter Pan’s Flight has the longest lines in Fantasyland, but it is worth every minute you have to wait.
The original concept of the attraction didn’t include Peter Pan to be seen at all. Instead, guests were to fly through the attraction as if they were Peter Pan. However, this concept left many park guests wondering why Peter Pan wasn’t in an attraction that had his namesake. So, during the 1983 Fantasyland re-design, an Audio-Animatronic Peter Pan was added to the attraction.
Also, during this re-design, many of the Fantasyland attractions were re-located to make room a new “dark ride” attraction (Pinocchio) and for some of the classic dark rides to be expanded. Peter Pan was one of the attractions to get expanded. Originally, guests would fly through the nursery, out over London, onward to Never Land, and finally through Skull Rock, where Captain Hook, Mr. Smee, Princess Tiger Lily and the Crocodile would make a short appearance before unloading.
After the re-design and expansion was complete, the new attraction opened on May 25, 1983 and allowed riders to see a little more of Never Land. You still get to fly over the rooftops of London, past the second star to the right and straight on ‘til morning, but now the new version included Audio-Animatronic versions of the characters and a whole new pirate ship scene capturing a duel between Peter Pan and his nemesis, Captain Hook. Along your flight, you will also get to see some of Never Land’s famous landmarks, including the Indian village, a glowing volcano, Mermaid Lagoon and Skull Rock. And, no flight is complete without a visit from some of your favorite character including Captain Hook, Mr. Smee, Tiger Lily, the Crocodile, the Darling children, Peter Pan, and Tinker Bell.
