In the heart of L.A., there is a windy road that follows the ridgeline of the Santa Monica Mountains and the Hollywood Hills. This road is called Mulholland Drive and offers great views of both the Los Angeles Basin area and the San Fernando Valley. Since the opening of Disney’s California Adventure, guests have had the chance to know what it feels like to take a drive along this famous highway.

Mulholland Madness is a mad mouse type roller coaster, which means it has steel construction and flat turns that don’t bank, and gives riders an idea of what its like to drive in L.A. traffic. Your car will twist and turn as you drive along Mulholland Drive high above Paradise Pier.

Additional Trivia and Fun Facts:

* Mulholland Madness opened with Disney’s California Adventure on February 8, 2001.
* The ride vehicles are themed like cars that you would often see on southern California freeways like sports cars, Highway Patrol cars and classic “Woodies”.
* Mulholland Drive is named after engineer William Mulholland. It runs along the crest of the mountains between the San Fernando Valley and Hollywood/L.A., with views along both sides.
* The backdrop to this attraction is an over-sized California roadmap.
* The top of the attraction measures 3 stories above Paradise Pier.
* With speeds of 27 miles per hour, Mulholland Madness sometimes reaches speeds much faster than what you can ever achieve on a real L.A. freeway!
