“Drawn to the Magic” is a show in the Hollywood Backlot at Disney’s California Adventure that brings Disney animation to life just like magic… right in front of your eyes! Children and adults alike will enjoy themselves and maybe sing along with the three Disney animator singer/dancers on a magical journey through some classic Disney films.
The show begins with three Disney animators/singers taking the stage with an artist pad in hand. As the singing begins, we are all “drawn” to them and the stories they sing about. With some help from some lucky people in the audience, we are shown how Disney animators use real live people to bring their inspiration to life.
As the show continues, guests listen to songs from one of three categories: the princesses, the heroes and the magic! With songs like “You’ve Got a Friend in Me”, “Part of Your World” and “When You Wish Upon a Star”, guests can’t help but sing and clap along. All the songs make up on big collaboration of Disney magic.
With all the fun and excitement of the songs, you hardly expect anything else to happen, but the end is when the real magic really takes place. As the animator/signer/dancers sing about each of their drawings, they suddenly come to life right in front of your eyes making for one grand finale! After the show, the characters stick around for photos and autographs.
If you are looking for something fun that both you and your children will enjoy, then take a 30 min break from running around the park to enjoy this Disney's California Adventure classic. The show usually plays six times per day and can be seen either on the Hollywood Stage. Please check the park guide for current times and location. I think you will be glad you did.
Additional Hints:
* If you or your children are big on meeting the characters, this is a great time to do it. Here, the lines are usually shorter and you can always be sure to meet a princess (usually Cinderella), a hero (usually Peter Pan or Woody) and Mickey Mouse.
* Guests might think about getting to the show location early since it could fill up fast. If the show is on the street, it is standing only so you will want to get up front in order to see the show better. On the stage, the benches fill up fast, but the show can be seen (and definitely heard) from any where in that general area.
