Tarzan's Treehouse

“AAAAAHHHHAAAAA!”  That is the sound that you might hear coming from Tarzan’s Treehouse now, but it wasn’t always like that.  Before it was Tarzan’s Treehouse it was the Swiss Family Robinson’s Treehouse.  The Swiss Family Robinson’s Treehouse opened on November 18, 1963 and remained that until May1999 when the treehouse closed to change it over to Tarzan’s Treehouse.

On June 23, 1999 the 70-foot "Disneyodendron Semperflorens Grandis", which means, "large, ever-blooming Disney tree", was reopened as Tarzan’s Treehouse.  Even though the theme of the treehouse has changed, there are still some things that remind us of the Swiss Family Robinson.

The treehouse features many rooms in the branches that are all connected by stairs and ramps and tell the story of an ape-man named Tarzan.  In each of the rooms, you see the characters from the movie. In the first room, you see the house where Tarzan’s parents lived.  It is complete with Sabor the leopard in the tree nearby so keep your eyes open!

As you continue around the tree, Kala, Jane and Tarzan greet you as you read pages about the movie.  Once you reach the bottom of the tree, you go into Jane’s camp.  This is an interactive play area with lots of gadgets and things to play with.  You can even act like the gorillas and help trash the camp!  You might even see some old friend from Beauty and the Beast, Mrs. Potts and Chip make a cameo appearance.  Also, keep your eyes open for the real characters from the movie.  You can often see Jane and Terk hanging around the treehouse.
