After his lunch adventures at Club 33, Mr. Potato Head decided he would like to visit something more near to his heart. He had heard talk of a ship named the Columbia. This ship was a replica of the ship that his ancestors were aboard during the first trip by an American ship to go around the world.

He excitedly boarded the ship and prepared for his voyage around the Rivers of America. The ship was bigger than he ever imagined. Mr. Potato Head decided that first things first, he would visit where
his ancestors would have traveled around the world!

He had a laugh as he headed for the stairs where a sign warned people to not hit their heads. He realized that there were some advantages to being a little potato. . .not that he was little for a
potato, but compared to the rest of the guests at Disneyland, he
was little. He headed below decks to find out what treasures this
ship had in store.

Mr. Potato Head didn’t immediately find treasure. He did find a wooden fish though. “Wow, a wooden fish!” he thought. “It isn’t
every day you get to see one of those.”
He was so excited about
this wooden fish that he had his picture taken with it. He was sure none of the potatoes at home had ever seen anything like this.
What else would Mr. Potato Head find during his travels at Disneyland?

It was then that Mr. Potato Head saw a horrific sight; a barrel of potatoes next to a stove. On top of the stove…a pot of stew! He suddenly realized why his ancestors had traveled around the
world! “They guarded the food!” he exclaimed proudly. Mr. Potato Head realized that his ancestors hadn’t just been passengers on
this historic trip. They had been the secret to its success. Without them, there would have been no food for the crew! He giggled as
he climbed up on the stew. As he took a picture of him guarding some concoction that was so old, it was solid, Mr. Potato Head thought, “Maybe it was part of the original trip.”

Mr. Potato Head was very glad he had decided to voyage aboard the Columbia. He was savoring every moment. Climbing the steps
to the next level of the ship, he couldn’t help but to pause halfway and remember the taters who had come before him who had been mashed for a lifestyle that he and all potatoes could enjoy today at
a place like Disneyland.

Sitting on a box, Mr. Potato Head talked with a friend about the sacrifices his ancestors had gone through while traveling around
the world. “I just can’t imagine what it was like. They would have been baking in the heat all day under the sun…getting burned, peeled…and been overly salted by all the salt in the water! It
must have been horrible!”

As they neared the end of their journey, Mr. Potato Head returned
to the main deck and watched as they approached the Frontierland dock. With a newfound appreciation for the potatoes who came before him, Mr. Potato Head found himself very glad to have visited Disneyland. He strolled across the deck and thanked the Captain
for a very enjoyable trip around the Rivers of America.

The Captain thanked him and offered to let him help steer the ship into port. This delighted Mr. Potato Head. As he took the wheel with a huge grin on his face, he contemplated what would be his next adventure at Disneyland. What a great place this was turning out to be!
