One of his favorite people who would come up and hug him was Audra. Her enthusiastic hugs would brighten his day and Henry would try to keep his leaves as green as possible for when she would visit. This was a hard thing to do however as it seemed like he was always thirsty now because of the heat. He looked forward to fall and winter when the temperatures would decrease. He also looked forward to the fresh winter rains that would fall on his leaves and refresh him.
On a whole though, life was good on Main Street. He loved watching the families stroll up Main Street and enter the Happiest Place on Earth. The little kids would drag their parents along as the parents followed along with a bemused expression. The groups of people that would come to Disneyland would also amuse him. These seemed to be a different breed of people for they would all look exactly the same. Sometimes they would come by in neon green t-shirts, or orange shirts with yellow hats. They would speak in languages that Henry couldn’t recognize but were often quite animated and amusing to watch. And watch Henry would do, watching the people and the world goes by.
The summer was slowly slipping by but Henry new it wasn’t over yet…for something was coming to this place that happened every year. It was an event that reminded trees of an era long gone by when warriors and dragon slayers would pass by under the trees leaves…this event was known as Bats Day. . . . |
