Henry Watch ’06!
For the week of May 22, 2006

It has been a very exciting week for Henry. He is proudly showing off his branches full of leaves. They are an exquisite color of green and it makes him feel proud to stand on Main Street proudly welcoming people into the magic kingdom. He is glad that he dug his roots deep so that this winter he could drink all of the water that Uncle Walt has dropped from above. He knows that even though the wonderful caretakers at Disney will water him and keep him healthy, nothing beats the satisfying water from above. Although, he once heard a man below his shady leaves speak of Menehune Water. This is water from a magical place called Hawaii. He would hear this man talk of this amazing place with such passion and panache that occasionally late at night Henry would wish he could uproot and move to this wonderful place called Hawaii and drink this extraordinary Menehune Water. He did have to admit that part of this gentleman’s story scared him. The thought of little creatures stealing water from him was a little unnerving.

Menehune Water aside, Henry is very happy to be living on Main Street USA this week in the magical kingdom of Disneyland. He has noticed as spring progressed though an unnerving trait amongst the humans down below.  Many of them have started to begin to walk closer together in groups of two. They seem to talk in low voices as they walk together, often hand in hand. This is something that he has seen happen before, each time with painful results. For quite often the end result is someone attacking Henry or a fellow tree with a knife, or some other sharp object and carving into the bark! It was a human tradition that Henry did not enjoy at all, nor could he understand. This year he resolved to get to the bottom of this and ask his new friend Christina what this disturbing practice is all about.
