Sunday Spotlight: Kilimanjaro Safaris

Sunday Spotlight: Kilimanjaro Safaris

Starting today some of the DAPS MAGIC team will be at Walt Disney World Resort for the week. There are many places and things the team is excited about experiencing. One favorite park of the entire team is Disney’s Animal Kingdom. One of my favorite experiences at Disney’s Animal Kingdom is the Kilimanjaro Safaris. This attraction shares the magic of Disney and couples it with the beauty and wonder of nature.

The Kilimanjaro Safaris gives guests a feel for what it would be like to go on a safari in an East African savanna. This takes place in the Harambe Wildlife Reserve in Harambe, East Africa. Throughout the tour, the guide points out various animals and shares about them and their home. The Kilimanjaro Safaris is in some ways, the realization of the dream Walt Disney originally had for the Jungle Cruise. In its early form, the Jungle Cruise would have had real animals. Of course, they eventually ended up using Animatronics. Decades later though, guests can board trucks and experience nature in the way it is possible that Disney imagined (minus the whole boat and cruise part). One fun detail to look for while riding the safari is the giant hidden Mickey. I’ll give you a hint, it’s for the birds…
