Details About Jon Favreau’s Live-Action Star Wars TV Show Shared Ahead of Disney Streaming Service Release

Jon Favreau is working on a new Star Wars live-action TV series for Disney’s upcoming streaming service. Other than the fact that Favreau is going to both write and executive produce the series, not a whole lot had been known before today. This changed with an Instagram post by Favreau. The post gave a synopsis for the first live-action Star Wars TV show. It also revealed the title for the new show to be The Mandalorian.

Jon Favreau’s post said: “After the stories of Jango and Boba Fett, another warrior emerges in the Star Wars universe. The Mandalorian is set after the fall of the Empire and before the emergence of the First Order. We follow the travails of a lone gunfighter in the outer reaches of the galaxy far from the authority of the New Republic…”

The Mandalorian will be one of several live-action TV shows to appear on the Disney streaming service. When the service debuts in 2019, there will be multiple TV shows and movies from the different Walt Disney Company properties. This includes new Disney, Marvel, Lucasfilm, and Pixar properties. Within the Star Wars world on this Disney streaming service, Favreau has the only Star Wars project that has been announced. With the opening of the streaming service, it will become the exclusive online home for these properties.

This TV show continues a relationship between Jon Favreau and Star Wars that also includes Star Wars: The Clone Wars and also Solo: A Star Wars Story.
