John Clayton Gets Jazzy With The 2018 Disneyland Resort All-American College Band

The summer series of guest clinicians continues with the 2018 Disneyland Resort All-American College Band. As their season comes to a close, John Clayton was the most recent jazz great to work with the band. On Thursday, August 2nd, he led the band during a set that had a nice variety of jazz.

John Clayton has a fantastic career in the world of Jazz. At the beginning of the concert, he shared about playing bass on that very stage with the great Count Basie. Through the years he has also worked with many other jazz greats as well. This includes Diana Krall, Quincy Jones, Jessica Molaskey, John Pizzarelli, Monty Alexander, Henry Mancini, and even Paul McCartney! Clayton won a Grammy in 2007 for his work with Instrumental Arrangement Accompanying Vocalist(s) for the song I’m Gonna Live Till I Die. He is known for his abilities as a composer, arranger, conductor, producer, educator, and bassist.

The concert John Clayton performed with the 2018 Disneyland Resort All-American College Band was really a fun one. Clayton has a wit about him that sometimes skirted the edge of being Disney. This wit charmed the audience. The band continues to get better and better as the summer progresses. The jazz set with Clayton will definitely be remembered as a highlight.
