Knott’s Soak City – A Great Summer Value With New Slides

Soak cityKnott’s Soak City has reopened for the summer city, and with 7 new slides!  May 20 was the grand opening, and season opening, for The Wedge and Shore Break.  Jon Storbeck, Buena Park Mayor Beth Swift, and Snoopy cut the ribbon to inaugurate the new slides.

Wedge

The Wedge is an open air raft ride for families.  It’s large inflated raft can accommodate up to 6 guests.  It’s a fast paced raft ride down twisting turns in large slide format.  The speed surprised me the most on this ride.

Shore Break

Shore Break is a set of 6 new slides.  Four of the slides with an Aqua-Launch chamber.  The chamber counts down and a platform disappears under riders’ feet for a speedy dive down the enclosed tubes.  The two other slides are open air rides that can accommodate one or two person inner tubes.  One has a gradual slope down, the other has a surprisingly steep slide down.  It was this one that twas the most fun slide out of the all the ones I’ve ridden.  The enclosed tube beginning of it made a thrilling ride, while suddenly seeing a steep drop gave a surprise ending.  It’s one that I would repeat many times!

Longboard’s Grill

Besides these slide expansions is a remodeled Longboard’s Grill restaurant.  Inside is a counter service eatery with chicken tenders, cheeseburgers, chicken sandwiches, fish and chips, salads, and other goodies to eat for lunch or dinner.  There are two lines and guests step up to grab their fare of choice.  Expanded seating outside gives some shade from the sun too.

New Landscape

Soak City has become a water destination for Southern California.  Lush landscaping has made this park turn into an oasis.  Before the Sunset River lazy river was a little too hot for comfort.  Now, it has plenty of scenery to give some shade in between swimming in the sun.

Why Go?

With many water slides to enjoy, a lazy river, wave pool, and expanded eating Soak City is a great value to beat the heat in the summer time.  The slides are quite fun for the whole family.  There’s an excellent kids play area, that also is fun for parents too.  Having a wave pool is a nice alternative to an actual beach.  The lazy river is so relaxing.  And I was very surprised at how fun The Wedge and Shore Break slides are!  For those with a Knott’s Berry Farm season pass, an add on makes it an even greater value.  But, a regular ticket is still worth checking out the park for a day.

I would add Soak City onto your summer itinerary!
