There’s a new Pirates movie on the horizon, and a special preview playing in Disney California Adventure at the Disneyland Resort. Here’s everything you need to know!

What you can expect:

This California Adventure exclusive teaser features a foreword by Javier Bardem (Captain Salazar), a Jack-heavy scene of him back at his old antics, and a highlight reel of what is to come in the latest installment. In total, you’re looking at about a ten-minute viewing experience, with about the same waiting time for it to begin (though the lobby does have some props to peruse while you do).

What you can take away:

It looks like the latest film may be a return to the tone of its roots, and feels a lot more like the first installment. You’ll get a good long look at an inebriated Jack, as well as a better understanding of the intelligent and crafty Carina Smyth (Kaya Scodelario). In all, this looks to be an enjoyable and action-packed addition to the Pirates franchise.

What you should watch for:

There’s a plethora of witty one-liners, some almost too quick to catch. Keep your ears open!

You’ll see some quick cameos of old favorites, like Will Turner (Orlando Bloom) and Captain Barbossa (Geoffrey Rush), as well as a look at newcomers like Henry (Brenton Thwaites).

As featured in more public previews, you’ll see a bit of young Jack. Tough to see how well this will work in the film, or if we’ll have a repeat of young Princess Leia in Rogue One.

There’s a few familiar props around Jack as well, from a peek at his magic compass, to a donning of his faithful tricorner hat.
