Marvel Studios has released the first teaser trailer for Thor: Ragnarok.
There is a lot packed into this short montage. For one, this will be a pretty different Thor movie, and probably even a different Marvel movie all together. The movie already has a retro feel from the music and the campy one liners. It’s not going to be the fantasy epic of previous Thor movies.
Besides the feel of the movie, it’s clear that this will be a new direction for this Avenger. Thor’s hammer, Mjolnir, looks like it will be destroyed before he’s whisked off world into space. Hela is the big bad that will cause all this and take over Asgard.
The main place Thor is off to is what is known as “Planet Hulk” in the comics. Well, it appears to be going towards that storyline. Planet Hulk is where Hulk is on an alien planet that he ends up taking over because of being a powerful gladiator. The movie will have a different approach because Thor never contends with Hulk in the comics. Jeff Goldblum makes his appearance as the Grandmaster of this fight.
We see a bit of Loki, but his appearance is based on Dr. Strange helping find him. We don’t get glimpses of Benedict Cumberbatch here, but he’s set to make an appearance in the film too.
Thor: Ragnarok looks fun and epic! It looks intense at times and humorous in others. It’s clear that things will be much different after this movie takes place. Thor and Hulk are set to appear in the upcoming Avengers movies, but this will surely change their relationship. And it could change things drastically for Thor depending on whether he gets Mjolnir back.
I’m looking forward to this new Marvel film! What do you think? Be sure to watch the trailer, and leave some comments below!
