Star Wars: The Last Jedi – Luke’s Dialogue Released, What Does It Mean!?

The Walt Disney Company Shareholder Meeting often can be an incredible place for Disney news as shareholders are given a look at what is coming down the line from the company. This year’s meeting was no different… especially when it comes to their Star Wars property.

During the meeting sneak footage was shown to those in attendance from Star Wars: The Last Jedi. In it, Luke asks the question of Rey that just about everyone has been asking: Who are you?

While it appears that early reports that this question is the first line of the movie may not be accurate, it is very likely that this question still takes place fairly early in the movie. While it really doesn’t answer much of anything about who Rey is, it does tell us a little bit about the franchise and perhaps Luke Skywalker.

The fact that a line from Luke was the main focus of this sizzle reel seems to indicate that he will have a fairly prominent role in this movie. This has been suspected for quite some time but maybe this moves the needle in that direction a little bit more. Couple that with the marketing for this movie that continually brings up the “Skywalker Saga” and it seems like Luke is going to be right back in the thick of it when we see him return to the big screen this winter.

Another deduction that could be made by this question is that Luke is now the wise old Jedi master who will be training Rey as she takes her journey forward. This also probably will not be a huge surprise to most Star Wars fans.

It is very possible that as we look towards the release of Star Wars: The Last Jedi later this year that we will be seeing a film that is set to do for this trilogy much what Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back did for the original trilogy. I’m sure there will be different secondary stories but I expect that the main story will be Luke helping Rey with her journey with the Force. I, for one, can’t wait to hear what the response to the question Who are you? is later this year!
