Super Hero Half Marathon and Holidays at the Parks – Sundays With DAPs

This last weekend was full of events at the Disneyland Resort.  The holidays at the parks kicked off with several festivities to celebrate the season.  It was also the 2016 Super Heroes Half Marathon weekend (formerly the Avengers Half Marathon weekend).

I participated in the Infinity Gauntlet Challenge, which consisted of running the Doctor Strange 10k on Saturday and the Avengers Half Marathon on Sunday for a total of 19.3 miles.  The half marathons also have a great expo at the Disneyland hotel with plenty of companies displaying running apparel and equipment.

The races were quite fun and full of characters throughout the course.  Doctor Strange even made an appearance for runners to get a photo with him.  The half marathon course included a run through Angels Stadium, which is always a highlight.

The other event within Disneyland and Disney California Adventure was the start of the holiday season.  It is probably the biggest I’ve seen in quite a few years.  Disneyland has the return of A Christmas Fantasy Parade and Believe In Holiday Magic, but there will also be the return of Paint the Night soon.  There’s always great treats around this time of year as well.

In DCA, the holidays have exploded with Festival of the Holidays, celebrating not just Christmas but some of the other holidays that come in the early winter time.  Viva Navidad is back in Paradise Pier, and also with the debut of Elena of Avalor in a separate show and greeting.  Meanwhile, several live entertainment groups of various cultural influences are abound in places throughout the park.  Festive Foods Marketplace is the winter Food and Wine that highlights various cultural dishes.  World of Color has a new holiday show called Season of Light.  In all, it has made California Adventure possibly bigger in celebrating the holidays than Disneyland.

In all, it’s nice to have the Christmas season in full swing at the Resort.  As Thanksgiving approaches soon, now is the time to check everything out before it gets too busy.  And with that, I’ll see you in the parks!
