Disney’s ‘Enchanted’ Sequel Finds Director

After the green light was given for an Enchanted sequel many months back, it seems like we finally have a director for the film. Variety reports that Adam Shankman will take on the new film.

Known for his work with the Hairspary remake, Shankman is currently in talks with Disney. Lead actress of the original film, Amy Adams, was quoted back in April saying , “They’ve been talking about it for a while, so I really embrace and look forward to what they do and hope to be involved.” Adams is expected to return for the film.

The film’s proposed title Disenchanted, will bring back the character Giselle. Timeline wise, the plot will be set ten years from where we left off in the original film.  Film’s production will being in the summer of 2017.

Kevin Lima directed the original movie in which Giselle was magically moved from her animated world into the live-action world of New York City. The film, which also starred James Marsden, Patrick Dempsey, Idina Menzel, and Susan Sarandon, was a strong performer with $340 million in worldwide box office. “Enchanted” also included songs from Alan Menken.
