Gordon Goodwin usually can be found performing with his Big Phat Band, but on Wednesday August 3 this great jazz saxaphonist could be found performing at Disney California Adventure with the Disneyland Resort 2016 All-American College Band. Goodwin, who once played with the Disneyland Band and other Disneyland ensembles, started the performance off with a memory from his days working at the Disneyland Resort. Then, it was time to get to the music. Much of the music included pieces performed by the Big Phat Band. All of it was entertaining and enjoyable.

Gordon Goodwin is an accomplished saxophonist, pianist, trombone player, arranger, conductor, and composer. His music can be found on a wide range of films from The Incredibles, to Star Trek: Nemesis, to The Majestic. While he once worked at Disneyland, he also composed the original score to Haunted Mansion Holiday for the Disneyland’s Haunted Mansion. ¬†Goodwin was one of several guest clinicians to lead the Disneyland Resort All-American College Band this summer to help prepare the students in the band for careers in music.
