Toy Industry Hall of Fame to Induct Disney CEO

Did you know that a Toy Industry Hall of Fame exists? Yes, you heard that right! This hall of fame recognizes the best of the best in the industry.

On Wednesday, Variety shared that current CEO of The Walt Disney Company, Bob Iger, will be inducted in 2016. He is being awarded for “significant contributions to the industry and the impact his work has had on the lives of children worldwide.”

The Toy Industry Hall of Fame is run by the Toy Industry Association and first began in 1984. The upcoming ceremony will be held on February 12 in New York City, as a part of the Toy of the Year Awards.

The organization cited Iger for running the world’s largest media company and creating “adored brands around the globe.” Disney already had many winning franchises, but expanded them markedly with the acquisitions of Pixar (2006), Marvel (2009) and Lucasfilm (2012), the association noted. The group said that Iger has also assured Disney’s toys were available across multiple platforms.

Iger will now join the ranks of others in the Toy Industry Hall of Fame such as Jim Henson and George Lucas, according to the article.

Toy Industry Assn. CEO Steve Pasierb said, as quoted by Variety, “Just about every child around the globe has been touched by the magic of Disney. Mr. Iger has done an impressive job of building on Disney’s rich history and growing their storytelling portfolio, creating new experiences and unforgettable memories for generations of kids to come.”
