The Disneyland Resort is known for having great and unique food items. Guests from all over venture into these parks looking to create magical memories and to even dine on yummy food. With menu updates, which aren’t too often, also comes the opportunity to enjoy other dining experiences.
After receiving a comment last week, there was a question of whether or not the Hungry Bear Restaurant in Disneyland Park had a menu change. After hearing those words, I had a little freak out. One of my favorite meals at the resort is the Fried Green Tomato Sandwich. To my knowledge, this was the only location in the parks with this offering.
In search of a menu update, I ventured into the park. After scoping out the location and looking up at the menu, there was indeed a change. There were several noticeable changes. The salad changed to a different flavor, a turkey wrap was added, the sweet potato fries were removed and…. the Fried Green Tomato Sandwich was removed!
Though it’s sad to see this item go, it was on the menu for several years. But there were many people I knew that enjoyed this meal, I mean, it was so delicious!
One other thing that also bummed me out was the fact that there were no real noticeable vegetarian options on the menu. I pondered and thought that if I was to eat here, what could I actually have, being a vegetarian and all?
I went up to the cast member at the register and asked what options were now available for vegetarians at this location. She noted that the Picnic Salad could be made without turkey and that a veggie burger could also be made. Also, the Turkey Wrap could be made without turkey was well.
Still, I am a bit disappointed at the menu change. Though I can’t complain too much because the resort offers a ton of vegetarian options. You can check out other options here.
When looking through my photos, I had two saved in regards to the Fried Green Tomato Sandwich; the actual sandwich and me taking an embarrassing selfie with the sandwich several years back. Now you know how much I liked this meal. Ha!
As to when this exact menu change took place, it seems to have occurred in early September.
Here’s to exploring the resort and other food options!!
