“Everything is awesome! Everything is cool when you’re part of a team!” If you have seen The Lego Movie then you’ll know what I am talking about. Also, sorry if that song is now stuck in your head.

This past weekend I had the chance to visit LEGOLAND California in sunny Carlsbad. This time around as a LEGOLAND Annual Passholder! It is crazy to think, but I didn’t even know that the resort offered annual passes. So in keeping up with the times, LEGOLAND California is the latest addition to my theme park addiction. With the use of a LEGOLAND Annual Pass, it was also noted that passholders receive discounts on food and merchandise. Score!

A world of Legos, rides, games, water parks and food; what is more fun than that?

Today I would like to share with you my vegetarian dining experience at LEGOLAND California. I must say, in just the past few years, the food options and quality has greatly improved. By improved I mean that dining locations now offer more food options for visitors with specific dietary needs.

Whether you are vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free or dairy free, LEGOLAND has a meal that will fit your diet.

Over on the LEGOLAND website, as well as on pamphlets on resort property, are that of checklist informing visitors of dining locations with various food options. The list will provide you with meals offered at specific locations. Check out the image below from their website.

During my visit, we hit three spots. For lunch, we ventured off to the Fun Town Market in Fun Town. This dining location is similar to that of a cafeteria, but with many options. Personally, I feel that this location has a nice salad bar option. There were at least four different types of greens to choose from, several salad dressing options and toppings. In addition to the salad bar meal option, various cold pastas were available and the meal also came with a bread roll. There were other stations of food at the location including kid’s meal options and a stir fry section.

Later on in the day, it was time for a snack. Obviously that called for the LEGOLAND famous Apple Fries. These little guys can be found at Granny’s Apple Fries in Castle Hill. Fresh Granny Smith Apples are lightly fried and covered with a cinnamon sugar. It was a nice little pick-me-up for a long day in the sun.

As we made our way almost full circle of the park, it was around 6:30 p.m. and that meant dinnertime. The smell alone of this dining location was mouth water so we stopped on by the Pizza & Pasta Buffet in Imagination Zone. Upon entering, visitors pay for their meal and are then are seated by a LEGOLAND employee. After that, it is time to eat. The location offers bread sticks, pizzas, pastas, salads and a wide array of soft drinks, juices and milk. For those that are vegetarian, the location had three vegetarian pizzas. The options included cheese, vegetarian (bell peppers & onions) and the daily special which was a pesto based pizza with veggies and goat cheese. As for pasta, vegetarians could also enjoy macaroni & cheese, tomato marinara pasta and a cold pasta salad.

Overall, the dining experience was an enjoyable one. I was very pleased to see the food options that have become available for those with specific dietary needs.
