Dwayne Johnson Joins Cast of Disney's Animated Film 'Moana'

News broke this Wednesday that actor Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson has been cast in Disney’s Moana. Lending his voice as the lead male character, Maui, Johnson signed his contact and shared with the world his new role.

The film, which is said to be released in 2016, follows a story line of a young girl who is set on an adventure to fulfill her ancestors’ quest. Set to direct the film are that of Ron Clements and John Musker.

 It’s a big adventure set in this beautiful world of Oceania. In the ancient South Pacific world of Oceania, Moana, a born navigator, sets sail in search of a fabled island. During her incredible journey, she teams up with her hero, the legendary demi-god Maui, to traverse the open ocean on an action-packed voyage, encountering enormous sea creatures, breathtaking underworlds and ancient folklore.

  1. Kind of an unexpected choice, but the more I think about it, the more I warm up to the idea. I can’t wait for this movie!

    Please consider casting Metoyer Manuel (check her you tube channel) as Moana. She is perfect for the role and would be the best role model for any fans.
