Disneyland Resort Culinary Apprentice Program Brings Forth New Chefs

Have you ever wanted to find out what it takes to be a chef at the Disneyland Resort? If that is a yes, Disney Parks Blog shared a pretty exciting story about three new chefs. Let’s check out their story.

For the past six months, Alexys McCoy, Joleen Piser and Ashley Parrish, all took part in completing their certifications with the American Culinary Federation. Certification at this level required the three cast members to take part in the Disneyland Resort Culinary Apprentice Program. The article goes on to say that they spent over 1,000 hours in the kitchen training.

Every two weeks, these chefs rotated to different Disney dining locations. With that in mind, they were exposed to a various amount of cooking techniques, styles and so much more.

The Disneyland Resort Culinary Apprentice Program is now in its second year. Chef de Cuisine Bill Orton is charge of training and had these words to share, “It is so rewarding to see our cast members learn and grow. Teaching is my favorite part of being a chef. There are only a few apprenticeship programs available in this county; I am honored to be leading ours.”
