2016 Release Dates for Disney Films Announced

It looks like 2016 is going to packed full of entertainment from Walt Disney Studios. Yes, we just welcomed a brand new year but the future is upon us. Variety online has released several dates for upcoming movies from the Disney company.

The latest news on the live-action “The Jungle Book” is that the film’s release date has been pushed back. The newest scheduled theatrical release date is on April 15, 2016. We are just going to have to wait a little bit longer to hear Bill Murray as the lovable Baloo.

Up next, Disney’s “The Finest Hours” starring Chris Pine, is scheduled for a released date of October 9, 2016. The film is said to be action packed as members of two oil tankers are rescued from a storm off Cape Cod.

In even more exciting news, the anticipated remake of “Pete’s Dragon” will come our way on August 12, 2016.

These film are also said to be released in 3D.

  1. Admittedly, I am not looking forward to the remake of Pete’s Dragon. The original is one of my favorite Disney films and one of the seminal films of my childhood. I don’t see the point in remaking it, especially as a non-musical. To me, it would be the same as them saying they’re remaking Mary Poppins as a dark comedy without music.

    1. I do think the one redeeming factor with it is that it ISN’T a musical… I feel like it’ll be much like Cinderella, Maleficent, etc where they are pulling from their library and retelling classic stories. We’ll see how it turns out I guess. I like some of the cast but the basic choice surprises me.
