Time to mark your calendars. On January 9, 2015, Fantasy in the Sky firework show will return to the Disneyland Resort. This firework production has not been at the resort since 1999.
With a run at the resort from 1958 to 1999, this was the first firework show to be presented at Disneyland. When park hours extended, this was one of the many night-time forms of entertainment to be added at the resort. Being one of the first shows of its type, technological advancements were not what they seem like today. In the past, cast members had to manually launch the fireworks. Over time, this show became more popular and made its way to the Walt Disney World Resort in 1971 and to Disneyland Paris in 1993.
Throughout its run, there have been several different versions of this show. Tunes in this show include the likes of the Mickey Mouse Club March and “it’s a small world,” just to name a few. This show also included for the first time, Tinker Bell flying over Sleeping Beauty’s Castle.
With that being said, it is pretty exciting for this show to return.
Do you remember seeing Fantasy in the Sky? If so, what was your favorite part?
