With a fifth installment of Pirates of Caribbean to soon begin filming, Captain Jack Sparrow fans can expect some pretty neat landscape and sights within the film. According to Variety, the film will be shot in Queensland, Australia. Attorney General and Minister for the Arts, George Brandis, confirmed this on Thursday.

In addition to the location, the film is said to be the largest international film to be shot in the country.

“The Australian government is delighted to have secured the high profile fifth installment in the ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ franchise to film in Australia with a contribution of A$21.6 million ($18.8 million). This is a landmark deal with Walt Disney Studios,” Brandis said. The set location is also said to bring forth thousands of local jobs.

Production of the film is said to start in February of 2015, while pre-production is to start this month.

Senior VP of Physical Production at Walt Disney Studios, Philip Steuer said, “Queensland has an incredibly diverse landscape and Australia’s robust entertainment industry and many accomplished craftsmen will provide a fantastic home base for our production.”

With this exciting news, the film has a projected film release date of July 7, 2017.

Not going to lie, pretty excited for this one!! I loved 1 and 4… Didn’t really care for 2 and 3 though both had moments I liked.

Just when I think I’m out, they pull me back in. Curse you, Johnny Depp!

Yea, I have to admit that I find things I have enjoyed about all of the Pirates movies. I think the first one was by far the best though. They wrote a pirate movie and then Johnny Depp added personality. I feel like they wrote for his personality after that and it wasn’t quite as surprisingly quirky when it was scripted. Anybody else get that feeling?

Oh absolutely! It felt like Depp did what he wanted in the first movie, which turned out to be a big hit with audiences. Then when they tried to copy his attitude in the following sequels, it just got less and less enchanting. Honestly, if you watch the videos where Depp visits schools and hospitals in his Jack Sparrow get-up that he brings with him everywhere, it feels more like the original deal. His improvisation is better than written-out lines.

Yea… wish there were a way to tell them to do it that way instead of trying to script the craziness!
