Beckett's Table Beckons Diners During Arizona Restaurant Week

Greetings Foodies! Arizona Restaurant Week is upon us! What that means for Arizonans is for 10 days we can try special pre fixe menus at some of the best restaurants in the valley. For $33 or $44 diners experience a 3 course meal from a menu created for this week. When I read that this was taking place this week, I thought to myself that this would be perfect for Geek Eats.95B02347-E5CF-41D4-98DE-3AFCBA08A759

The first restaurant menu that caught my eye was the menu for Beckett’s Table. Chef Justin and Michelle Beckett opened this upscale yet comfortable American restaurant with a couple of close friends in 2010. Beckett’s Table has a menu that features comfort food served in ways that diners may not expect with a stellar wine list and cocktail menu.

We arrived for our meal at around 8:15 and the dimly lit restaurant was bustling. Upon first look one might notice the dark wood and urban metal work; though on closer inspection table décor and couches soften the vibe of the 5D10B640-BD33-46FE-8739-8B5DAF99D9F9restaurant. Tables are close together and while initially this was off putting to me as I wanted a more intimate evening, it turned out to be not at all problematic and actually quite entertaining.

Now onto what we are all here for, the food! The restaurant week menu at Beckett’s Table included 3 courses. Mister and I decided so we could try more of the menu that we would each order different items from each course. For our first course (the appetizer course) I ordered the Super Creamy Grits n Sausage, this had local Schreiner’s sausage, grits and smoked onions with a mustard jus. The flavors were so homey but not heavy. The mustard jus added a hint of spiciness that the otherwise normally 363AC932-59F0-4D41-9755-147D555A685Abland grits needed. Mister had the French Onion Soup with Noble bread and gruyere cheese. Hands down this was the best French onion soup I have ever had. It wasn’t too salty and was very flavorful.

After the amazing first course we knew the rest of our meal would not disappoint. We were right! For our second course (the main course) I had the Beef Bourguignon Shepard’s Pie. Now this was not your typical Shepard’s Pie but more of a deconstructed one. It was full of tender vegetables and the beef was so tender that it basically fell apart in your mouth. Mister 42EC1C0C-DE17-4DC4-99C8-0298E597082Ccommented that he despite the fact that his meal was great he was a bit jealous he didn’t get the Shepard’s Pie (I did give him more than one bite though, I promise). For his entrée, Mister had the Pulled Pork which consisted of slow braised pork shoulder, cheddar grits, roasted tomato, soffrito, and herbs. There were so many flavors to this meal. The southwestern influence pleasantly surprised me as it took the pork and grits to a whole new level.C5D4BF62-EF8B-4A6B-B9EC-C299339E2DF1

At this point we thought to ourselves how could this meal get any more perfect? I can tell you how, the third course (dessert course). Not being a huge fan of sweets I went with the Cheese Plate. It consisted of 3 types of cheese (Swiss, a creamy bleu, and brie), toasted nuts (walnuts, almonds, and cashews), and McClendon honey. This was the perfect mix of savory and sweet. I am a huge fan of bleu cheese; especially the pungent ones like Stilton and this creamy bleu did not disappoint, especially paired with the house Pinot Noir that came 55296847-F1E9-4D02-9B08-279F65C8A4B2with our meal. Mister had the Sea Salt Fudge with coffee ice cream, butterscotch and tuille. It was truly one of the most decadent desserts I’ve ever had.18DB6C0C-6597-467D-9138-CE3710D891AF

I’d heard great things about Beckett’s Table and now can see what all the hype is about. This was an amazing experience and I will definitely be returning. Beckett’s Table was a great way to start Restaurant Week. Stay tuned because next I will be reviewing our second Restaurant Week restaurant, The Standard.

Enjoy What You Eat!
