Shanghai Disneyland: “Garden of the Twelve Friends”

Shanghai Disneyland has its first corporate partner. With this partnership also comes some new artwork giving yet another glimpse at what the future Disneyland park will look like in Shanghai. The announcement was made yesterday for the corporate partnership with Industrial and Commercial Bank of China (ICBC) and Shanghai Disneyland.

Since the opening of Disneyland in Anaheim nearly 60 years ago, we have sought to establish strong partnerships with businesses that are well-respected leaders in their industries and the communities in which they operate. We are continuing that legacy with this agreement and we are thrilled that our first major alliance partnership for the Shanghai Disney Resort is with such an esteemed partner as ICBC,” said Tom Staggs, Chairman of Walt Disney Parks and Resorts.

Part of this partnership will include ICBC sponsorship of the “Garden of the Twelve Friends.” This is a part of the Garden of Imagination, an 11 acre area in front of the castle that will include attractions and gardens. This will be in the center of the park.

The ‘Garden of the Twelve Friends’ is an excellent example of how we are creating experiences and attractions that are designed with our Chinese guests in mind, and rooted in Disney characters and storytelling,” Staggs continued.

The “Garden of the Twelve Friends” is a mix between Chinese culture and Disney characters that will be appealing to guests worldwide. One of the highlights of the “Garden of Twelve Friends” will be the mosaics that are placed throughout them. There will be twelve of these glass mosaics representing all the signs of the Chinese Zodiac. An example shared by Disney is Remy the rat from Ratatouille representing the Chinese Zodiac for Year of the Rat.
